A message from President Kornbluth
Hello, everybody.
I’m reaching out to you this morning because I’ve been hearing many questions, from across MIT, about changes that may come with the new administration in Washington. I don’t have specific answers for you – but I want to give you a sense of how I’m thinking about things.
For decades and across administrations, MIT’s engagement with the federal government has contributed immeasurably to Americans’ security, prosperity and quality of life. That will continue.
As the Institute does with any incoming administration and Congress, we’ve been working to anticipate and actively prepare for shifting priorities.
We expect a lot of news out of Washington, today and in the weeks to come. We’ll assess any relevant changes carefully…and respond in ways that serve MIT’s mission – and our remarkable community.
From time to time, if I judge that my duty to the Institute requires it, I will write to you or send a video. But I won’t speak or write on every issue.
Whether or not you hear from me on a given topic, please know that we’re working assiduously, and in many different ways, to advance the Institute’s best interests…and to make sure we remain a magnet for the finest talent from across the country and around the world.
We’re here to “advance knowledge”… “to educate students”… and “to bring knowledge to bear on the world’s great challenges.”
There is no more important work in the world …and I’ll continue to do everything I can to steer a steady course…keep us focused on the mission…and help us do big things together.
Thank you.
