Hello from 02139!

MIT President Sally Kornbluth

To the members of the MIT community,

Early this morning, I walked for the first time from Gray House to my new office. The start of January means that things are quiet. But I’ve learned enough about MIT to know that won’t last long.

Since my husband, Danny, and I visited in October, we’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness and enthusiasm we’ve encountered at every turn. And in the bounty of excellent background materials I’ve been sent, seemingly every page offers some new intellectual excitement or opens an intriguing new vista.

As soon as I’ve unpacked a few more boxes, I will begin my focus for the spring: An intensive listening tour, so I can get to know the members of this remarkable community, learn what you care about and start to understand how, together, we can make MIT even stronger.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can – and as the spring unfolds, I’ll share what I’m learning from my conversations and welcome your reflections too.

For now, a quick hello by video.

Warmly,

Sally Kornbluth
